Super Lemon Haze

A Green House Seeds creation, this sativa-dominant hybrid is a cross between Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze. In two separate years, this strain has taken home the Cannabis Cup. Super Lemon Haze is the name given to this rainbow bud wrapped in kief. This variety, as one might expect from its name, displays characteristics that are reminiscent of lemon. The scent is tart, citrusy, and slightly sugary. The taste is much like the name implies, sour and sweet like lemonheads candy, but it’s not quite as intense as you might think it would be. These strains of cannabis are known for having stimulating and invigorating effects, thus they may not be the best choice for people who experience high levels of stress and tension in everyday life.

Super Lemon Haze is quickly becoming a well-known strain thanks to its performance at the High Times Cannabis Cup, where it won first place for two consecutive years (2008 and 2009), and at the IC420 Growers Cup, where it won first place the year after that.

Arjan of Green House Seeds created this strain originally, and in its purest form, it is a Sativa-dominant hybrid. In order to create this strain, the breeder started with a female from his famous Super Silver Haze genetics, which won three consecutive Cannabis Cups in 1997, 1998, and 1999. He then painstakingly mated this female with a 3-way cross of Haze, Skunk #1, and Northern Lights #5. Therefore, the Northern Lights #5 strain was born.

Arjan then combined the leftovers with the more popular Lemon Skunk, a strain that had made its way from Las Vegas to Amsterdam via a breeder known as The Lemon Man, to create the Super Lemon Haze, which is currently offered at dispensaries across the West Coast.

The genetics of Super Lemon Haze provide a mellow high that begins in the body and swiftly travels to the mind by combining sweet and sour, lemony tastes (in part owing to the terpene Limonene) and fragrances. Sweet and sour, lemony flavors and fragrances work together to produce this sensation. Cannabis with a THC level as high as 25% might create paranoia and anxiety when smoked in large doses by novice users. The THC content of this strain is extremely high, reaching up to 25% on average.
